Rhonda's family adopted one of Shiloh's puppies.
Here are some of her house training tips:
"I am fortunate to have lots of help at night for training. Here's how I do it.
During the day, I take Bear outside at least once an hour and take him to his potty spot in the yard. I urge him to go potty. When he does, I praise him and give him a treat and a hug and make sure I use a lot of "good boy" praise. I do this from early morning until my boys get home from work and then they continue it through the night. It only took 24 hrs for it to sink in that he needs to potty outside. After the first 2 days, I let him tell me he has to go by running to the door. If he seems agitated, sniffing the floor, or hiding, I just pick him up and take him out. He always goes once outside. I have a pad down in the kitchen and he has used it once each day, usually just getting up from a nap. He's had a couple accidents, but not his fault. Too many people around who didn't pay attention to him, haha. He's done wonderful! He's growing so fast, it's scary! I love this puppy stage, but will really appreciate the fully trained puppy to come, lol.
Bless you both for sharing your gift with us!
(This we received from Rhonda a day later:)
"We had a little setback today, but that's expected. He is going thru a growth spurt and sleeping a lot. When he got up, he puddled before he got to the door. It happens, tell them to be very consistent and not to get discouraged by one bad day. It works, it just takes awhile."
Thank you Rhonda!
